Sit, play, and go. These mark “Sit and Go” tournaments that are very much in fashion these days. A busy online poker table of 8-9 players get filled up within few minutes. This shows the importance of these tournaments.
Why are they so popular? You basically play with 8 to 9 people and when you win the game, you get money as if you played a whole tournament. The entry fee is minimal and the buy-in is used as prize money.
To win such a lucrative game, it is important to be patient. Avoid playing too loosely or recklessly and playing multiple hands simultaneously. Wait for the opportune moment to strike. In most cases, half the players would be eliminated after few minutes. You then have to compete with only 4-5 opponents. Finally, you would have to beat only two or three of them to win the game.
Even when you are not directly involved with a hand, pay attention to the minute poker tells offered by the opponents. The signs would allow you to understand the nature of the player and the type of strategy he would follow.
When the group falls to merely 4-5 opponents, steal the money from people having short stack as they are likely to fold. Simultaneously, keep a watch on other players who are eyeing on your stack.
When there are only three players, try to raise at each hand. Don’t allow the other opponents see a cheap flop though. Try to secure the first position in the tournament. And, finally when the team trickles to two players, you have to be a strong aggressive contender.
What matters here are the number blinds one can steal. You cannot afford to wait any longer. So, play full throttle. The tips here would be to loosen up, call at most hands, and watch for traps set by small blinds.
